Our two-day Colchagua tour takes us via the Alto Maipo wine region to the entrance of the Colchagua valley, visiting three distinctly different wineries over the course of the day. After an overnight stay, you’ll spend a second day enjoying a further three wineries in the valley before returning to Santiago.
First stop on Day One is a family-owned winery recognized both nationally and internationally for consistency and high quality. We visit their uniquely-designed and modern “bodega”, constructed to be in complete harmony with nature. You will hear about their production techniques and the factors that influence their wines, learn first-hand the difference between American and French oak, and enjoy a tasting of three of their quality wines accompanied with a cheese board.
We then drive to the entrance of the Colchagua Valley, where you will enjoy an a-la-carte lunch (not included in price) in a beautiful setting with a view over a polo field.
After lunch, you’ll take a short tour of the colonial buildings of this historic winery and taste three wines from their Grand Reserve line, representing the best of their terroir.
On our last stop for the day, you’ll meet personally with the owner at a small production “garage” winery, hear about their concept for “Slow Wine” and enjoy a conversation and glass of wine in a truly relaxing environment.
You’ll then be dropped off at your pre-arranged accommodation (not included in price) for a relaxing evening.
On Day Two, you’ll be picked up from your hotel to an historic winery where you’ll take a tour through the vines in a horse-drawn carriage. See the wine making process and taste a wine in-progress, straight from the tank, then return to the colonial tasting rooms to sample a further 5 wines from their extensive range.
We then head into the Apalta valley, a sub-region of the Colchagua Valley known for the best quality reds in Chile, where you will enjoy a panoramic view over the beautiful valley and enjoy a tasting of three premium wines accompanied by local cheese.
Then it’s off to lunch for a truly gastronomic experience at a French-influenced winery with a menu consisting of four delicious gourmet courses, each matched with a specially selected wine from their Cuvee line. Experience the personal service of this Relais & Chateaux restaurant, while taking in the stunning view over the valley and vineyards.
After lunch, tour the architecturally amazing facilities of this organic and bio-dynamic winery, follow the wine making process on its gravitational path, and enjoy a tasting of three wines from their range, including their icon wine.
You can then relax while you’re transported back to Santiago at the end of an amazing two days.
